What a cool opportunity to be invited to have lunch at the Governor's mansion...of course he never showed, but a great experience nonetheless. For the second time, one of our student council presidents won the Missouri State Citizenship Award. Katie was so deserving and I was glad she invited me to attend with her.
Here's the capitol building in Jefferson City.Couldn't get this to turn...this is the room we ate lunch in.
Thought this was cool angle (again, wouldn't turn)...pretty good for my little point and shoot.
The men who served us wore white gloves. One of the principals we sat with told us that the men were all prisoners! We had an interesting time imagining what made them look so "hardened." Reminded me of Shawshank Redemption.
This is the mansion. I guess the governor actually does sleep there with his family occasionally.
The proud teacher and Katie.
It is so fulfilling to see my students get honored like this. Katie was one of about 14 others who won the award from the entire state of Missouri.
